The ROAR of SCOTUS!
So the big news is, of course, the nomination to the SCOTUS (as hip bloggers like to refer to it).
Less than 24 hours after the name John G. Roberts became very well known, not only are flaming liberals pissed, but raging conservatives are incensed as well. And Roberts is supposed to be a compromise?
Well, that's the thing. He is. Bush picked Roberts very carefully. Roberts has an impeccable track record as a lawyer and doesn't leave what the media calls much "paper trail." On the scale of 1 to controversy, he's probably a 3. Of course, that doesn't mean he won't get attacked. I'm not sure what to think of Roberts yet - it doesn't seem like anybody knows too much about him. The thing that bugs me a bit is that he's a lawyer who hasn't had too much experience, it seems, that would befit a Supreme Court Justice. What will Roberts do once he gets his SCOTUS powdered wig? Does anyone know? Still, in a day and age when gangs roam the Senate floor, what can we do?
In other news: Iraq is still a miserable place to live and try and write a constitution, Karl Rove takes a backseat in the media to the Supreme Court while Bush changes his stance to keep his friend around, and Microsoft sues Google because people would rather work at Google.
Oh well. In spite of everything, across the sea is a real American hero - one that everyone roots for - pedaling toward an unbelievable 7th Tour de France.
In personal news, I made three posters at work in two days, have another brochure to finish before I leave today, bought this and watched this yesterday. I should buy some touch up paint for my car.
