like a board meeting

Agenda:
* My Parents
* Katie's Parents
* Work

My Parents
So my parents are on their way to the west coast. They're off to some islands off of Seattle to celebrate my dad's birthday (and possibly their anniversary). I didn't really know about this until today, when my dad emailed me telling me they were going. They left for the airport today. I hope they have fun.
It was my dad's birthday today. Woohoo!

Katie's Parents
Katie's parents came to town (west coast to east coast - just the opposite) via a 2-day long train ride from Seattle through Chicago on over to Pittsburgh. They're here for the week, and it' s nice. It's nice because I get to see them again and try to make another good impression; eventually, they have to like me enough to let me marry their daughter, right?
Also, Katie gets to do lots of fun things during the day when I'm at work (and I get to do fun things with them at night - last night, we went to Church Brewworks and watched the amazing race. Today, we went to the Pirates game).
I feel surprisingly comfortable around them, but at the same time, I still feel that "I've got to impress them enough because that's the only way people like me" thing going. I think they like me.

Work
WQED is getting a bit boring, but I still don't mind going in. The staff is nice and it's a good easygoing kind of workplace. Deadlines are usually quite fluid and the work is a good work-at-your-own pace.
Working for Web & Portal Services is a blast, mainly because I really like coding JSP servlet stuff, but also because my work is going to used by a very large number of CMU students in the near future. I guess the same goes for the pictures/articles I put up on the WQED site, but I guess I feel more of a sense of accomplishment with the Portal because I actually had to code something instead of just doing simple content updating.

That's all. I'm kind of in a not great place with money right now, but it'll pass. Now I'm going to make some midnight mac & cheese. Yum!
