The Big NJ
So here I am. In New Jersey. Until Tuesday. Whoo.
I've only got an hour and a half until my doctor's appointment, which also means I can't eat anything this morning. So I guess I'll have a hot pocket when I get back. It feels nice to have a consistent internet connection again, even if it's only a 56K connection. Then again, it was nice - in a different way - to know that no matter what I did at my house, I couldn't get on the internet.
I made up a game. It's based on swordfighting, and I think it might actually work. Who knows. I'll have some people playtest it (fools like Aaron Tarnow) and see if it's any good. With any luck, maybe game design will be a viable career choice for me. Or I can just dream about it.
I also finally managed to make it past the halfway point of Snow Crash, which I do intend to finish before I get back to Pittsburgh.
Speaking of getting back, I'll be moving next week. I'm looking at either Thursday or Saturday (and maybe Sunday if I need it), but I should be soon on my own as far as living goes. Kind of scary. Especially since I haven't called Duquesne Light about getting electricity at my new place yet, or how I'm going to get internet. I looked up some rates, and maybe I'll go with Comcast since it's faster (and I can get basic cable that way for about the same price). Or maybe I'll go with cheap but rather flimsy DSL. Sigh - I'm like the Tim Taylor of ISPs. More power! Ho ho ho! More bandwidth! Ho ho...sigh.
I have a feeling I might get bored here in New Jersey. So I brought a DVD with me, all Netflix style. I also brought more books then I'll ever read. Katie's going to be leaving Portland now (if she hasn't left already), meaning she's now in transit from west to east across the U.S. It's not too sad because I can always call her, but it's weird not knowing where she is. Is it weird? Or is it only weird to be because I'm a paranoid micromanaging boyfriend?
I do wonder what we're going to do for Thanksgiving and Christmas, though. I guess I'll go shower. And make sure I know where this doctor's office is.
