honeybun run

Back with a vengeance, baby!

Anyhoo, back in my dad's office in Shanghai to update you on the exciting adventures of...me. In the past few days, I've visited family, visited friends of my parents, and eaten a lot. Let me stress how much I eat. It's a lot. A LOT.

The electricity went out in my grandparents' apartment this morning. That's interesting. Right? Things are kind of plodding along. Every day, I get up, me and my parents go out and drive to some place and eat some excessive amount of food.

Oh! Today, I came to my dad's school because I'm helping him with his class. He teaches conference interpreters of the future, and I was interviewed today as an exercise for his class. I finished the morning session, but he's having me do it for his second-year students later this afternoon. I'm glad to help, I guess, but it feels a bit weird, because I'm essentially working for my dad (I'm his lesson plan for the day!).

I'ma gonna marry that Katie Dahl girl. Someday.

I reread the Great Gatsby. That is one kick-ass book. That F. Scott Fitzgerald knew how to write. Hoo boy. Anyway, I've been meaning to reread it for a while and I'm glad I did. I should really read it every year of my life. There's always more to discover. I read a lot in China, I think. Because I can't really understand the television here. I remember the last time I came here, I finished Return of the King. So that's something.

I wish I was with Katie right now. I can't wait until I get back to Pittsburgh. Is that bad? That I'm all the way here in exotic Shanghai, China on plane tickets paid for by my parents and I want is to be back home with my honeybun?

Right. I should never use the word "honeybun" again. I just love her so much I want to juggle interpretive dancing monkeys while painting a rose with my toes. That's how much! I would eat a rhinoceras! Out of love!

There's probably more specific stuff I could tell you, but you wouldn't be interested in my parents' friends or what they talk about in Chinese. As if I could even tell you what they talk about.

I'll fill out some long survey-y thingy-y after New Year's. So the anticipation will gnaw at your heart for two more days. Long days.

Over and out, sauerkraut.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. I read it junior year. I should really reread it.
