Midnight at the Royale
It seems like all I want to do anymore is go places and eat food. You know what that makes me? A fat travelling man. I don't want to be a fat travelling man.
So me, the Katinator, Yincrash, and Beej-working-on-project-all-day-proxy-member did some Puzzle Royale thing this past weekend. It's some Microsoft-sponsored puzzle event at CMU that's supposed to last 12 hours. We probably spent 6 hours on it (due to rehearsal and a dinner party at Mike Yin's house), solved more than half the puzzles, and came in 42nd or so out of 100+ teams. Aaron Tarnow and his cohorts came in 3rd, but they spent all day on it and he looks like a hobbit. So, really, I think I came out ahead.
Rumors is still coming along. I hate assessing myself, so I won't say here: "I think I'm a good director" or "Egads! Whatever will I do? Actors are running into each other!" But, it's coming along and I have mucho faitho in my directing team, cast, and tech crew.
Speaking of plays, I read a scene today in Text to Stage and it felt nice. Me and Katie are in the "acting" section of the class with a bunch of designers and what little theatrical experience I have puts me miles above some of these designers (when it comes to acting - I'm sure they could draft circles around me). Anyway, that felt nice. To know I can read a cold scene well. Even Jed complimented me. Jed of the infamous warmup!
I hope I pass Networks. Then I can graduate. And get a job. Shudder.
Anyway, I've got reheated General Tso to eat. Don't let them tell you any different - Chinese military leaders are just as good the second time around.
